Beauty editor and clean beauty blogger Petra Jaksa’s experience with the MBR Sebum Regulating facial

Walking into the salon, I did expect to receive a professional treatment in a nice space but I never imagined to have such a unique experience in this country: a truly personalized treatment with immediate, visible effects. I was absolutely spoiled and even managed to learn something new about my skin.

My knowledge of MBR Cosmetics was quite sparse, but after reading about the premier German luxury cosmetics brand I instantly became excited. I booked an MBR Fresh Up treatment, but after I was taken to the SPA area where treatments are carried out, and the lovely aesthetician Jenny introduced herself, she stated that nothing is written in stone, and she always decides which products to use based on the client’s current skin condition. At that point, I already knew I was in good hands as I always find it important for the aesthetician to regard me as an individual and work on my skin instead of routinely carrying out a treatment I choose.

A little piece of Heaven

I felt distant from the noises of the city and morning stress while listening to the pleasant, meditative music in the intimate, tastefully designed SPA lobby. They offered me tea, I changed, and for the first time in my life, I laid down on the heated treatment bed. Jenny thoroughly inspected my skin, asked about my problems and which products do I usually use. To my delight, she told me that my skin is as firm as it can be and looks 10 years younger than it actually should, but I have a tendency for rosacea, seborrhea and acne, and the skin on my face seems to be on the thin and sensitive side. Then she shared some information about MBR Cosmetics.

I learned for example that their products have been created after an exhaustive research and development procedure, which included dermatologists, medical professionals, biochemists and microbiologists. The team of experts had absolute financial freedom to explore which ingredients to use in their recipes. The main goal was to find the most effective anti-aging remedies, so all products from cleansers to serums contain the most exquisite anti-aging agents in the highest concentrate, and being organic, they have no parabens, mineral oils, PEGs, phthalates or artificial perfumes, which means they are safe even during pregnancy.

Effective yet delicate products

As a first step, Jenny cleaned my face with the Two in One cleanser, then applied a thin layer of Beta-Enzyme skin care gel, during which I experienced a strange hot flash, but for some reason my skin didn’t turn red which is pretty rare in my case. I am a true nightmare for aestheticians, as my skin bursts into flames from almost anything, which usually frightens them and their knee-jerk reaction is to immediately try putting out the fire. I learned that this was an enzyme peeling, which can be used on even the most sensitive of skins – and it worked on mine. We continued with the Starter Facial Booster and the Normalizing Lipid & Sebum Care serum, which normalizes sebaceous gland functions, while having calming and anti-inflammatory remedies. I only felt a delicate, weightless gel on my skin.

Then we targeted wrinkles and I received the best face-, decolletage- and back massage ever while the Optimal Lift Serum rejuvenated my skin cells. Jenny told me that this was called a lifting massage, during which she uses her hands and two crystal rollers. She first did the treatment on half of my face and brought me a mirror to see if I could notice any difference. I was shocked! The part she massaged was visibly lifted; my eyebrows seemed to have moved upwards, my features smoothed out and all the small lines vanished. 

Then Jenny finished the other half of my face and applied a nourishing white clay mask, then the beautifully scented Cream Special and finished up with the Basic Lip-ID lip balm which instantly hydrated my dry lips. 

Feeling like a queen 

After the one-hour treatment, I felt so relaxed and transformed that when I stepped out the treatment area I honestly felt like levitating two meters above ground. Actually needed a little time to come back to Earth. Although it was supposed to be a sebum regulating treatment, my skin never felt so hydrated and glowed so naturally. Besides receiving special attention, I felt like being in the hands of a true professional, who never for one second was hesitant about which product to use on my skin. For a couple hours, the wonderful space, the care and the after-treatment dried fruit snack made me feel like I was a queen.
