THE BASICS OF A PERFECT SKINCARE ROUTINE

Beautypest Inc.

We often emphasize how important a daily skincare routine is, but what is it supposed to look like exactly? Should we do it in the morning or before bed or at both times? What is essential and how do we know what works for our skin? - These are some of the questions we will be answering here.

You need to define your skin type before using anything, as dry skin requires different nutrients and care than normal or oily skin. You can define your skin type by examining your face in the mirror, but the best way would be visiting a professional who besides providing facials can assess your skin and offer you a personalized at-home program with products they use at the salon. Moreover, it is highly important to be aware of and treat problems such as pigment spots, acne or rosacea, and include targeted products with your daily routine. This is the second most important part besides getting and using products created for your skin type. Tip: Try and always use high quality products that will not cause any irritation. You can find amazing solutions in our online store!

A morning routine is essential

You need to take care of your skin in the following order after waking up: cleanser, toner, serum or essence, moisturizer and sunscreen. First, you should use the lighter products that contain more water then continue moving towards the heavier ones. You can wash your face with water; you do not necessarily need facewash. However, a quality cleanser is beneficial for gently but effectively removing dead skin cells, pollution and makeup from oily skin without drying it. Some steps are optional based on skin type and needs, but sun protection is an absolute must. If you leave out sunscreen, than it basically does not matter if you use fantastic products on a daily basis or not. We could easily state that sunscreen is the most important part of skincare. Unfortunately, we need to protect ourselves from the sun throughout the entire year, as it causes visible damage by drying, producing wrinkles and leaving spots all over your face. The sun can be responsible for 80% of skin aging! For combination or oily we suggest using lighter, lotion-based products, while dry types can go for creamier ones. Use at least 30 SPF! Tip: Give your skin about 10-15 minutes to soak up all the products before applying makeup.

Evening routine is necessary, without a doubt

Professionals suggest the following steps for a nighttime routine: cleanser, toner, serum or essence and lastly, a heavier night cream, which is optional for oily types. Never ever go to bed without removing your makeup, as leaving on eye makeup for example can cause serious irritation! Finally, use an exfoliator or peeler once a week and treat yourself to some facemasks (traditional or sheet), as they also do wonders.
